Concerning the Shop
Fourteen Threadneedle Row, since 1847.
We deal in books that other dealers describe as difficult: the overlooked, the miscatalogued, and the occasionally alarming. Our stock arrives by way of house clearances, disappointed collectors, and the estates of people who kept better libraries than records.
Every volume is described by hand. Where a book is foxed, we say so — the name of this shop is not an accident. Where a plate is missing, we say that too, and price the book accordingly.
On Condition
We use the usual trade vocabulary. Foxing is the brown speckling of age. Rebacked means the spine has been renewed by a binder. Uncut means the leaves were never trimmed, and unopened means no one has yet read it — which, in a shop like this, happens more often than you would think.
On Payment
This is a demonstration shop. No payment is collected, no card details are requested, and no parcel will arrive. Orders are recorded in your browser alone and vanish when you close it.
